“Ex-pupils, teaching colleagues and members of the King’s community will be saddened to hear of the recent death of Miss Dilys Morgan, former Head of Junior School (from 1951 to 1975). Miss Morgan passed away in her sleep in the early hours of Monday 8th February at the Lawn’s care home in Quedgeley. She was ninety-four years old.
The funeral takes place at 2 p.m. on Thursday 25th February at Gloucester Crematorium, Coney Hill Road, with a retiring collection in aid of The Cinnamon Trust, an animal charity. Members of her family are happy for former pupils and work colleagues to attend.
However, the main occasion on which Dilys’ life and work will be remembered will be a special Evensong at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday 8th May in the Cathedral, followed by the interment of her ashes in the Cloister Garth and a reception in the Parliament Room. Those who have a long distance to travel are asked to come to this service rather than the funeral, if they possibly can.”
